National Geographic Explorer Classroom
This week for my exploration through the tools at our disposal I chose to take a deeper look at the National Geographic Explorer Classroom. As a child I read almost all of the editions of National Geographic Magazine I could get my hands on and seeing how they've adapted to the modern day is inspiring to me. Through the use of modern technology National Geographic offerers a unique way to speak to its explorers, in the classroom via live chat features students are able to engage with the people in the field directly.
When looking through the website made by national geographic I was nothing but impressed not only do they offer the engagement to students globally - not only domestically, they also take 100% of their proceeds from donations and re-invest it directly back into the explorer led programs. This is a wonderful tool in my personal opinion for most all grades K-12.
Hi Billy, my name is Jorge. I really enjoyed reading your post about the National Geographic Explorer Classroom. It was interesting to see how a well-known organization has adapted to modern technology while still keeping its educational mission strong.I especially liked your point about students being able to interact with explorers through live chat. That kind of direct connection can make learning much more engaging and meaningful compared to just reading from a textbook. It also helps students feel more connected to real-world experiences.I also thought it was great that you mentioned how donations are reinvested back into the programs. That shows a strong commitment to education and exploration, which makes the platform even more valuable.Do you think tools like this could replace traditional classroom lessons in the future, or are they better used as a supplement to teaching?
