SDG:15

When I was looking at the final goals for 2025, they were all amazing but the projects that caught my eye were the projects for the SDG 15: life on the land. This goal is all about protecting our ecosystems, stopping the destruction of habits, and protecting endangered species.

The project that I am going to highlight in this blog post is from Mrs. Fisher's 3rd grade class. Their project is called “Save Endangered Animals” . In their class they were focused on Endangered animals and how they are affected by the changes in their environment. The students worked with partners to do research on an endangered animal and to create a poster to present all the information about their animal. I think this is such a cute and fun project for students, it gets them working together researching about the animal of their choice and allows them to be creative when designing their poster to spread awareness and the information they found about their animals. This class also donated to the world wildlife fund and even adopted an Amur leopard.

This project focused on target 15.7 which is eliminate poaching and trafficking of protected species and target 15.c combating global poaching and trafficking, the reason most of these animals are endangered are because people poach them for illegal wildlife products. For example people would hunt and kill African elephants just for their ivory tusks. There is a really interesting documentary that explains this called The Ivory Game that was directed by Richard Ladkani and Kief Davidson on Netflix.
