AI in Feedback and Assessment: Opportunity with Responsibility 

    Artificial intelligence has a growing impact on educational systems through its development of assessment methods and learning feedback tools. AI-enabled platforms create essay feedback which includes editing recommendations and quiz performance assessment and customized educational paths. The educational system provides teachers with new possibilities through these functions yet brings forward critical ethical matters which they must address. The challenge requires educators to determine responsible ways for implementing artificial intelligence into their work.

1. AI for Feedback

    AI delivers its highest value for educational settings through its capacity to deliver instant feedback. Students can obtain immediate feedback for their draft work and quiz results and practice test results instead of waiting multiple days to receive grade evaluations. AI tools identify grammar mistakes and create visibility for unclear reasoning while offering structural improvement suggestions and performance-based practice exercises. Students can use this immediate feedback to build their skills through formative assessment which enables them to improve their work during active learning periods.

    The advantages create major improvements. AI enables teachers to work more efficiently while decreasing their grading demands so they can dedicate more time to individualized student teaching. The system delivers ongoing assessment results which enable teachers to adapt their teaching methods to different student learning levels.

    AI-generated feedback produces results which have restrictions. The system understands student performance through assessment but it lacks understanding of real-life situations and student development over time. AI cannot understand artistic work when students present their exceptional ideas because it produces evaluation tools which sound authentic yet lack informative value. Most importantly, AI cannot fully understand student intent, emotional context, or classroom dynamics. Teachers should use AI feedback as an additional tool to support their teaching activities.

2. Academic Integrity & Ethics

    The introduction of AI into assessment procedures requires educators to analyze four specific issues which include bias and accuracy together with privacy and originality. AI systems use extensive training datasets which contain cultural and linguistic biases to assess student work. Students will lose learning opportunities because they will receive invalid results which need to be examined through critical evaluation.

    Privacy stands as a critical issue today. The protection of student data requires educators to confirm that AI systems meet all legal and ethical requirements regarding data handling. Schools need to establish transparent systems which inform students about the methods used to handle their personal data.

    The process of maintaining academic integrity becomes more difficult to manage. Students who depend on AI systems for answer creation face challenges which make it difficult to identify who actually created their work. The educational system needs to create detailed guidelines which permit AI usage while instructing students to utilize AI technology for support rather than complete cognitive work.

    Human judgment needs to remain vital for all processes which include high-stakes grading assessments of student progress and creation evaluation and ethical situation handling. Teachers deliver three essential functions to students which include mentorship and emotional intelligence together with professional judgment capabilities that AI systems fail to duplicate.

3. My Perspective: Responsible Integration

    I would use AI for formative feedback and drafting support when I integrate AI into assessment practices. Students will use AI to review their early drafts which they will submit as final versions. I will establish specific rules for AI usage which I will communicate to students together with their responsibilities to write about their AI tool usage during their revision work.

I would set firm boundaries:

-AI may assist with feedback but not determine final grades.

-Students must maintain authorship and demonstrate original thinking.

-AI use must be transparent and documented.

-Sensitive student data must only be used in secure, approved systems.

    Teaching should receive enhancement through AI but not face replacement through it. AI delivers immediate feedback by creating personalized learning experiences that become accessible for users. The implementation process needs three components which include developing policies, building ethical understanding and maintaining dedication to student-centered learning.
