Blog Post 2: Collaboration

Well, what is COLLABORATION?

When people come together to share their thoughts and Ideas with one another to work toward solving a problem, that is collaboration.  The global goals are an excellent example of collaboration; we are all coming together to work towards completing the 17 goals.

Why does Collaboration matter?

Well, collaboration matters because it brings people together! It allows everyone to work together and share their own thoughts. Everyone's opinion matters, and it allows people to bring new creative ideas to the table. It also allows people to share their unique skills. Overall, Collaboration is important because it helps solve problems. For example, we are all coming together to figure out ways to complete the 17 goals by sharing our ideas with each other.

From an article by Jason Blair called "How Collaboration Promotes Deeper Learning," In this article, he talks about how in America's educational system, they prioritize individual achievement, which isn't completely the problem, but he believes that learning should consider individual, but also the collective. He believes that students will develop a deeper understanding of the importance of working together. His overall goals are to bring individual and collective growth together.

  1. Hi Emily,
I really enjoyed reading your post about collaboration. You did a great job explaining the concept in a clear and simple way, especially how you connected it to the Global Goals. That example really helped show how collaboration works on a larger scale and why it is so important.
I also liked how you emphasized that everyone’s ideas and skills matter. Your point about collaboration bringing together different perspectives and creativity is really important, especially when solving complex problems. The connection you made to education was strong as well, since students can benefit from learning how to work both individually and as part of a group.
One suggestion could be to include a specific classroom example of collaboration, such as a group project or activity, to make your ideas even more concrete.
Do you think collaboration is more effective in small groups or larger groups when it comes to student learning?
