Virtual Feild Trip Blog

Virtual Field Trip Blog: Exploring the Night Sky with Stellarium

Summary

For my virtual field trip, I used Stellarium Web, an interactive website that allows users to explore the night sky from anywhere in the world. This virtual planetarium shows real constellations, planets, and stars based on your location and time.

During the experience, I was able to look at different constellations such as Orion and see how stars are arranged in the sky. I also explored planets like Mars and Jupiter, learning about their positions and how they move over time. One of the most interesting features was being able to change the time and date to see how the sky looks during different seasons or even in the past and future.

This virtual field trip helped me understand how astronomers study space and how the night sky is constantly changing. It made it easier to visualize things that are usually hard to see clearly without a telescope.

Reflection

This virtual field trip was really interesting because it allowed me to explore space in a way that felt interactive and realistic. I liked how I could move around the sky and zoom in on different stars and planets. It made learning about astronomy more fun and easier to understand.

One thing that stood out to me was how organized the sky is, with constellations forming patterns that people have recognized for thousands of years. It made me realize how much humans have studied space even without modern technology.

Overall, this experience helped me better understand astronomy and showed me how digital tools can make learning more engaging. It also made me more curious about space and what else is out there.
